We share data with the following processors only to the extent required to operate the app:

We do not sell your data to any party. We do not share your data with advertisers beyond anonymised identifiers required by AdMob's consent framework.

4. AI Training Consent

We may ask for your optional consent to use anonymised scan images to improve PawCheck's AI models. This consent is always opt-in, starts unchecked, and can be withdrawn at any time in Settings → Privacy. Images used for training are stripped of all EXIF metadata and are never shared with third parties or used to train models outside PawCheck.

5. Data Retention

• Scan images: Retained until you delete your account or delete individual scans.
• Scan results: Retained until account deletion.
• Consent records: Retained for 7 years as required by DPDP Act 2023.
• Analytics data: Retained per Firebase's standard 14-month rolling window.

6. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

• Right to access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you — email support@pawcheck.in.
• Right to correction: Edit your profile and pet data at any time inside the app.
• Right to erasure: Delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and processed within 30 days.
• Right to grievance redressal: Contact our Grievance Officer (see Section 8) — complaints acknowledged within 24 hours, resolved within 15 days.
• Right to withdraw consent: Toggle off data sharing in Settings → Privacy at any time.

7. Cookies and Tracking

The PawCheck mobile app does not use browser cookies. The PawCheck website uses no tracking cookies. Firebase Analytics uses anonymised device identifiers which you can opt out of via Settings → Privacy.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PawCheck ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users including free-tier and Pro subscribers.

2. Description of Service

PawCheck is an AI-powered pet wellness screening application that analyses photos of your pet's eyes, skin, ears, teeth, and stool to provide a severity triage (Normal / Monitor / Urgent) and informational explanation. The App uses Google Gemini AI and proprietary AI models to generate these assessments.

PawCheck is not a medical device, a veterinary diagnostic tool, or a replacement for professional veterinary care.

3. Not Medical Advice

All content generated by PawCheck — including severity levels, condition names, confidence scores, explanations, and recommended actions — is for informational and wellness-awareness purposes only. It does not constitute veterinary diagnosis, treatment advice, or a prescription.

You must consult a qualified veterinarian before making any medical decisions for your pet. In emergencies, contact your nearest veterinary clinic immediately.

4. AI-Generated Content

• Scan results are generated by AI models that may produce errors, including false positives and false negatives.
• Confidence scores represent the model's statistical estimate — they are not clinical certainty.
• Results may vary based on photo quality, lighting, angle, and the specific condition.
• PawCheck displays a "Report incorrect result" option on every scan — please use it when results appear wrong. This helps improve the AI.

5. User Responsibilities

• You must be 18 years or older, or have verifiable parental consent, to use PawCheck.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account and pet profiles.
• You must not misuse scan features to generate results for purposes other than your own pets.
• You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the App or its API.
• You must not use PawCheck for any unlawful purpose.

6. Subscription and Payments

PawCheck offers a free tier and a Pro subscription at ₹99/month. All payments are processed exclusively through Google Play billing — no external payments are collected by PawCheck directly.

• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Cancel anytime via Google Play → Subscriptions → PawCheck Pro. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Restore Purchases is available from: Paywall screen, Settings → Account, and Subscription screen.
• Refunds are subject to Google Play's refund policy.

7. Marketplace

The PawCheck marketplace shows over-the-counter (OTC) pet products from third-party sellers. PawCheck earns an affiliate commission when you purchase through a product link. All purchases are made directly on the seller's platform — PawCheck is not the seller and takes no responsibility for product quality, delivery, or returns.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, designs, AI models, source code, and trademarks in PawCheck are owned by Canine Products or licensed to us. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Canine Products shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of PawCheck, including any reliance on AI-generated scan results. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra.

What PawCheck Is

PawCheck is an AI-powered pet wellness screening application. It analyses photos of your pet to provide a severity triage — a first-response awareness assessment that categorises what it sees as Normal, Monitor, or Urgent. It also suggests a possible condition name and provides a plain-language explanation for informational purposes.

Think of it as a knowledgeable friend who can look at a photo and say "that looks like something worth checking with a vet" — not a vet who has examined your pet.

What PawCheck Is Not

• PawCheck is not a licensed medical or veterinary device.
• PawCheck is not cleared or approved by any regulatory authority (CDSCO, FDA, RCVS, or equivalent) as a diagnostic tool.
• Scan results are not a clinical diagnosis.
• Condition names shown are not confirmed diagnoses — they are the AI model's best estimate based on visual patterns.
• An "Urgent" result does not mean your pet is definitively ill — it means the AI detected visual patterns associated with conditions that typically require prompt veterinary attention.
• A "Normal" result does not guarantee your pet is in perfect health — it means no concerning visual patterns were detected in this specific scan.

Understanding Severity Levels

Confidence Scores

Every scan result includes a confidence score (Strong / Good / Possible / Unclear). This score reflects the AI model's statistical confidence in its visual pattern match — it is not a measure of clinical accuracy or diagnostic certainty. A high-confidence result can still be wrong; a low-confidence result can still be correct.

Limitations of AI-Based Visual Analysis

• Photo quality significantly affects accuracy — poor lighting, blur, or incorrect angle reduces reliability.
• The AI has not physically examined your pet and cannot assess symptoms like pain response, temperature, or behaviour.
• Rare conditions and early-stage presentations are harder for AI to detect from photos alone.
• The AI was trained primarily on Indian pet breeds and conditions — results for uncommon breeds may be less accurate.

In an Emergency

If your pet is showing signs of acute distress — difficulty breathing, collapse, severe bleeding, ingestion of toxins, or extreme pain — do not wait for a scan result. Contact your nearest veterinary emergency clinic immediately.

PawCheck displays emergency contact options and a vet locator when an Urgent result is detected. Use these to find the nearest clinic.

Professional Veterinary Advice

No AI tool, however accurate, can replace a physical examination by a trained veterinarian. PawCheck is a first-step screening tool. For any health concern about your pet, please consult a registered veterinary practitioner.

1. About the DPDP Act 2023

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 is India's landmark data protection law. It establishes rights for individuals ("Data Principals") and obligations for organisations that process personal data ("Data Fiduciaries"). The substantive provisions are enforceable from May 13, 2027, but PawCheck is designed to comply from its first release.

2. PawCheck as a Data Fiduciary

Under the DPDP Act, PawCheck (operated by Canine Products, Mumbai) is a Data Fiduciary — we determine the purpose and means of processing your personal data. We process the following categories of personal data:

• Phone number (for account verification)
• Pet photos submitted for AI scanning
• Pet profile information (name, species, breed, age)
• Health assessment results (scan results, severity, condition)
• Location data (transient — used only during Vet Locator searches, never stored)

3. Consent

We collect your consent before processing any personal data. PawCheck's consent mechanism is designed to meet the DPDP Act's requirements of consent being free, specific, informed, and unambiguous:

• The consent checkbox starts unchecked — you must actively tick it.
• Each data processing purpose is described in plain language before you consent.
• AI training consent is a separate, optional toggle — it is not bundled with account creation.
• Consent timestamp and version are stored server-side for audit purposes.
• If consent requirements change (new DPDP rules or expanded data use), you will be asked to re-consent before continuing.

4. Your Rights as a Data Principal

5. Children's Data

The DPDP Act defines a child as a person under 18 years of age. PawCheck requires users to confirm they are 18 or older at registration. If a user is a minor, verifiable parental consent is required before any account is created. We do not knowingly collect data from minors without parental consent.

6. Data Security Safeguards

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• Scan images are stored with strict access controls — only you can access your own images.
• Authentication tokens are stored in your device's hardware-backed secure storage, isolated from other apps.
• No PII (personally identifiable information) is included in analytics events.
• API keys and secrets are stored in a dedicated secrets management service, never hardcoded in the app or backend.

7. Data Breach Protocol

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to cause harm to Data Principals, PawCheck will:

• Notify the Data Protection Board of India (DPBI) within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
• Notify affected users via in-app notification and email/SMS as soon as reasonably possible.
• Document the breach, its scope, and the remediation steps taken.

8. Third-Party Data Processors

PawCheck uses the following processors who handle personal data on our behalf. Each is contractually bound to protect data in accordance with applicable law:

• Google Firebase — Authentication, analytics, remote configuration
• Google Gemini AI — Image analysis (pet photos processed per Google AI API terms)
• Supabase — Database and storage
• Google AdMob — Advertising (only after user consent; consent managed via UMP SDK)
• Google Maps Platform — Location-based vet search

Note: Some data processors host infrastructure outside India. We monitor DPDP Rules for any data localisation requirements and will migrate infrastructure if mandated.

10. Consent Withdrawal

You may withdraw consent for any optional data processing (including AI training consent, analytics, and ad personalisation) at any time via Settings → Privacy. Withdrawal of consent for core services (account authentication) will result in account deactivation. Withdrawal does not affect the legality of processing conducted prior to withdrawal.
